IGF Outcome – Recommendations for Global Strategy on better inclusion of vulnerable groups in the Information society

23 October 2013 - A Open Forum on Access in Bali, Indonesia

Agenda

During the Workshop 168 (IGF 2012) panellists together with the audience tried to understand how to better involve vulnerable people (as defined by the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society) in the Information society to give them the possibility to become active actors in the field of Internet Governance. As a result of a successful and interactive discussion, covering a big number of issues, it was proposed to create a Working Group on the issue of better inclusion of vulnerable groups in the Information society. Better inclusion of vulnerable people in the building process of the Information Society and participation in its decision-making processes to ensure equal participation of all in sustainable economic, social and human development, is the main objective of the Working Group. The purpose of the Open Forum is to present the Working Group, which is the concrete outcome of the IGF dialogue, and the work done by the Group during the first year of engagement of its members. The first year resulted in the creation of recommendations for Global Strategy on better inclusion of vulnerable groups in the Information Society for the multistakehloder community and policy-makers. These recommendations, based on best practices and identified trends, will be presented during the Open Forum for multistakeholder discussion and the wider input of different communities.
