4 December 2008 - A Workshop on Internet Governance for Development in Hyderabad, India

Agenda

The workshop seeks to explore the issue of access to public held information, a core element of the right to freedom of information (FOI) as a fundamental human right, particularly in the context of development. Built on a series of UNESCO initiatives aimed at exploring the link between access to public held information and sustainable development and empowerment, the workshop will discuss the overall challenges and opportunities for promotion of the universal access to public held information brought by the Internet, and develop strategies as to how FOI can be made more visible on the development agenda by more countries in the era of information society.
