The Friends of the IGF project (FoIGF) is a grassroots effort to increase public access to 10+ years of IGF discussions on Internet Governance and policy issues. The project’s core element is friendsoftheigf.org - a living archive of IGF discussions. This website features a searchable database of found transcripts, video, agendas, and reports from IGF events, stretching back to the first IGF event in Athens, in 2006. Friendsoftheigf.org enables users to search and browse IGF discussions by meeting, keyword, date, speaker, and other options.
The vision of FoIGF is to create a state-of-the-art archival database of IGF discussions from the global, regional, and national levels, which is built and sustained by the multistakeholder IGF community.
The mission of FoIGF is to preserve and make widely accessible the historical record of IGF discussions, thus enabling any Internet user to learn about and research the Internet Governance and policy issues that have been discussed at the IGF.
- Freedom of information and access to information; Awareness raising and knowledge sharing
- Cultural and linguistic diversity
- Permissionless innovation and collaboration
- Open, participative, and consensus-driven multistakeholder governance
